Teen Beach Movie Inspired End of Summer Party Ideas + Mocktail Recipe

End of Summer Party Ideas

Summer is coming to an end and the final days need to be cherished before a new school year arrives. And with the the arrival of Teen Beach Movie on shelves now, we’ve come up with a few great ways to celebrate those last few days with your friends. These end of summer party ideas are perfect for making lasting memories in the last few days.

So blow up a few beach balls, grab that swimsuit one more time, and have your kids call up their friends. Let them celebrate a little longer before they’re stuck with homework piled up to their ears and text books weighing them down.

End of Summer Party Ideas

1. Water Fight

While summer may be almost over, the heat is still here! So head over to the store and grab some water balloons, squirt guns and any hoses on the shelves. Invite the kids over for a wet and wild time in the front or back yard.

Once you’ve filled up all the balloons and loaded the water guns up, let the kids choose teams. Once the teams are chosen set up some ground rules (including no-squirt zones by the re-load stations) and let the balloons start flying. By the end of the fun the kids will have worked up an appetite so order a few pizzas, grab some salad, and place out some bottles of water for a great party meal that won’t break the bank.

Don’t forget the slip-n-slide for after! Since most stores are clearancing their summer supplies you might be able to find a great deal on these fun summer toys.

2. Movie Night

With summer bedtimes still in full force have some friends come over for a movie night. Pick up a copy of Teen Beach Movie, pop some stovetop popcorn, and pass out the licorice while the kids enjoy the show. This musical surfing-meets-time-travel flick is the perfect way to cool off this summer! Check out the trailer!

Make sure to have plenty of blankets, pillows, and snacks available in the viewing room (or your living room) and blow up a few beach balls to set the stage. Mocktails might add the perfect touch. Our pink lemonade mocktail recipe is below!

3. One Last Bonfire

Ahh… the classic bonfire. I have such fond memories of my summers as a teen spent at the beach with a huge bonfire blazing. Stock up on smores fixings, grab some hot dogs and buns, and make sure to have plenty of roasting sticks to roast the hot dogs and smores over the fire.

Check with your local hardware store to see if you can grab some leftover pallets to use as wood and make sure to have someone stake out a pit earlier in the day so you don’t end up without one. While it is still summer, it can get cooler in the evenings so remind everyone to bring a sweater.

4. Head to the Drive-In

Grab a few parents and caravan to your local drive-in. Bring some lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks and enjoy a back to back double feature. And if anyone has a pick up you can load it up with blankets, pillows, and sleeping bags for a comfy area to hang out.

You can head through the drive through before going to the drive in and enjoy dinner while watching the show.

5. Barbecue Cookout

It doesn’t get more summery than a barbecue cookout. Fire up the grill, have your teen invite their friends over, and enjoy some hamburgers, hot dogs, and sodas one last time in good company before it starts to get cooler.

If you have a firepit the kids can roast marshmallows afterwards. Buy enough marshmallows and consider having a marshmallow fight after your done eating and the barbecue is put away. Super fun and somewhat easy to clean up as long as no one gets the marshmallows wet.

Pink Lemonade Mocktail

Pink Lemonade Mocktail

  • 1 quart pink lemonade
  • 1 bottle berry flavored sparkling water

Mix the lemonade and sparkling water together right before serving. Add ice cubes to fun glasses and pour in the drink. Use some fun umbrellas or pinwheels to make the drinks even more festive and add some frozen berries to the end for a pop of color.
