Preserving Summer Memories How to Make a Great Photo BookIf you’re like me, and I’m sure most are, you probably take a lot of photos with your smart phone to share on social media or via text or email. But what do you do with your photos after you’ve taken them? Do you take the time to download, transfer, or even print them out?

Since my trip to CVS last month I’ve realized how easy it really is to turn those photos I post to Facebook or Instagram and create a fun memory book full of all of the moments I captured.

I shared how easy it is to make a photo book at CVS but didn’t go into the details of what to include in a photo book to preserve those summer memories. Below I’ve outlined a few tips that have helped streamline the photo book process for me.

How to Make a Great Photo Book

1. Organize Your Photos

Before heading out to CVS I tried to figure out what I wanted my summer memories photo book to include. So I made a list of the top places we visited, fun activities we did, or trips we took.

Then I made sure I had photos from each event handy either by looking at my Facebook photos to make sure they were there, on my smart phone’s photo gallery, or on my memory card from my DSLR.

By having the ideas of what I wanted in my book, putting everything together went so much quicker!

2. Make Sure to Include Big and Little Events

Sure, the big events of the summer are the ones you want to highlight but consider including every day fun as well! Maybe you got some great shots of the family at the local pool or the kids playing in the back yard. These are still great memories to remember summer by.

And when heading to big events, think about putting down the smartphone and picking up the DSLR or point and shoot camera to capture memories of the special times and places.

3. Edit Your Photos Before Heading to CVS

If you know what photos you want to use and already have them picked out, consider editing them with free software like PicMonkey or Canva before using them in your photo book. Not only will you have hte photos cropped to the right size you want, you’ll have them all in one place.

But don’t worry if you run out of time and can’t do this! The Kodak Picture Kiosk in the CVS Photo Center also has an auto enhance feature right there to use on any photos you may grab from your smartphone, Facebook page, or other device used.
