Orange You Glad The Kids Are Asleep

Orange You Glad boozy drink with tequila and citrus

“Orange you glad?” Do you remember that saying from childhood? Maybe from a knock knock joke? I sure do. And I fondly remember it every time I sit down with this drink. Most of the time I’m thinking, “Orange you glad the kids are asleep?”

Now don’t get me wrong… I love my kids. But some days the countdown to bedtime is on as soon as my husband walks in the door. Other days the countdown to bedtime is on as soon as they wake up from their naps. But no matter what type of day it is, this drink can perk me up.

Because having that time to enjoy a drink after the kids bedtime means that I get to take a moment for myself before delving into the wonderful world of working into the night. And it brings me right out of a bad day with just a sip. We all need drinks like this in our lives.

(oh yes, working from home means I get to enjoy a drink on the job… just not excessively!)

And in a few short weeks when I attend SoFabCon I’d love to sit back with my friends and ask, “Orange you glad…”

  • 2 ounces blood orange soda
  1. Pour the tequila and the orange juice into a highball glass with ice cubes.
  2. Stir.
  3. Slowly pour the blood orange soda in the glass, it will mix with the other ingredients naturally.
  4. Garnish with the orange slice.

Orange You Glad boozy drink with tequila

In May I’ll be attending SoFabCon and at the end of the conference I’ll be able to relax and enjoy the coolest PJ party ever hosted by NickMom. I’ll be attending SoFabCon to learn and grow as a blogger. I’ll be attending the Slumber Party after the conference to relax and enjoy a night out with friends.

I’d love it if this drink was chosen as the signature cocktail for the party (what sleepover is complete without a little citrus and alcohol?) so that my friends could enjoy this delicious Orange You Glad cocktail with me. I can just imagine the labels on the cups asking the guests to write what they’re glad about…

How do you unwind at the end of the day?

  1. This sounds and looks like a drink I could definitely unwind with. I enjoy a good drink with tequila in it from time to time. I usually grab a glass of wine to unwind, but now I’m going to try this drink, thanks. Cute name too.

  2. A warm shower and a good book…and maybe some social media 🙂 Love this drink idea though! Cheers!

  3. So clever! I hope you have so much fun at SoFabCon – I hope you win! 🙂

  4. Hmmm… what could I use instead of grapefruit? Orange juice? I definitely could use one of these right about now!

  5. The ingredients and the name alone – you have me sold. YUM!!!

  6. Love this combination. Looks delicious!

  7. Unwind at the end of the day? What IS that? No, seriously. I reach for the vodka. Or wine, depending on the mood. More Vodka lately. My husband works nights so I get to do dinner, bath, and bed all by myself every night of the week including WEEKENDS! WOO! I’m fo’ real ready for a mommy time out every day of the year. Seriously THANK GOODNESS for SoFabCon. Can’t WAIT!
