Every year I get together with my girlfriends and we do an ornament gift exchange. It’s the perfect time to sit back, relax, and enjoy each other’s company.

This year I opted to host and had the girls over for a delicious cup of coffee and some berry scones and biscotti. I also had a surprise for them…

Thanks to Keurig I would also be able to gift a brand new Keurig 2.0 to one lucky friend. How awesome is that? Plus, I put together some cute mug gifts for each friend to take home.

Coffee Gift Ideas with Keurig 2.0 and K-Cup packs

The new Keurig 2.0 features Keurig 2.0 Brewing Technology™, which reads each lid to deliver a perfect beverage every time. See – what did I tell you? Perfection!
Keurig 2.0 brewer and Cafe Mocha K-Cup packs

Not only will they be able to enjoy the perfect cup of coffee every morning but with the new K-carafe packs they can also entertain guests and brew a 4-cup pot of coffee to share!

And when one has coffee to share, you need something to pair it with. I whipped up some of my favorite berry scones and grabbed a few boxes of biscotti from the store to serve alongside our delicious coffee choices.

Coffee Gift Ideas plus a Berry Scones recipe

Berry Scones Recipe

This recipe makes about 12-15 mini scones or 6 large scones.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt
  • 6 tablespoons regular butter
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup dried blueberries
  • 1/2 cup 1% milk
  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt and pulse 2-3 times to mix. Add the butter and pulse 7-8 times just until the mixture forms large, coarse crumbs the size of peas. Scatter the cranberries into the dough and pulse until just moist.
  3. Turn dough onto a lightly floured countertop or work space and press it together gently until the dough forms a ball. Using a spoon, grab a heaping scoop of dough and drop onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing scones about 1 inch apart.
  4. Bake until golden brown, 13-17 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly and serve warm.

At each table setting I included a mug, two different kinds of biscotti, and k-cup packs for each guest to take home and enjoy. I also included a little candy cane (perfect for stirring) with a cute poem about the legend of the candy cane.

Once we enjoyed the coffee, scones, and some extra biscotti it was time to exchange gifts. When we were finished opening up the ornaments it was time to draw a name for the Keurig 2.0 I was gifting away.

Now there may or may not have been a little friendly competition from my friends but I assure you that no biscotti or scones were harmed when choosing a winner.

The Keurig 2.0 brewer makes a great holiday gift for anyone on your list. You can purchase a Keurig 2.0 K300 like the one I gifted for one of your friends at Walmart. I highly suggest grabbing a box or two of k-cup packs or k-carafe packs to go along with your gift.

The Perfect Coffee Gift Basket plus a Cinnamon Marshmallow Recipe

As I’ve mentioned before, my good friend Nadia will be leaving soon and off to her next adventure as her husband gets new orders. So I’ve been wracking my brain with what I could give her that was easy to pack and would remind her of our friendship.

Since most of our time together is spent watching the kids and drinking coffee I thought that a coffee gift basket with her favorite treats would be the perfect gift! And adding a homemade element (with a recipe card, of course) just added that perfect personal touch.

What would be better than enjoying a delicious caramel coffee drink topped with homemade cinnamon marshmallows before gifting her the gift basket?  [Read more…]

Enjoying Sticky Buns and Coffee with Friends

This is a sponsored post

Sticky Buns #loveyourcup #shopOne thing I absolutely love about my friends is that I can call them up at a moments notice and invite them over for an impromptu play date. If my youngest is driving me up the wall because she’s “bored” while her brother is at school I can simply hit up my friends and tell them to bring their kiddos over for a fun morning.

And, of course, that’s the perfect time for us mamas to reconnect and enjoy each other’s company while sipping on coffee and treats. Because caffeine is a must at play dates.

With the holidays fast approaching I also always try and use these play dates to my advantage by testing out fun recipes with my friends to see if they make the cut for the holiday baking frenzy to come. This past week I had a few friends over for some homemade sticky buns I made using my favorite flavored creamer, peppermint mocha. It’s great in coffee but also makes a great addition to baked goods.

Sticky Buns ingredients #loveyourcup #shopThere’s something magical about sharing a meal with friends. Being able to sit down together, take in a few laughs, and really enjoy each others company.

Over the past few years of running my playgroup I’ve come to know these ladies quite well. So much so that I feel comfortable enough with them, and them with me, that we allow our kids to enjoy playing in the playroom or living room while we catch up. No need to hover or follow our kids every step.

It does help that the kids know our home well and know where their favorite toys to play with are. And my daughter so looks forward to these mornings filled with fun and laughter.

On a recent trip to Walmart I picked up some Peppermint Mocha creamer to replace the Pumpkin Spice creamer I had just run out of. Tis the season for delicious coffee and I need my creamer!

I figured that the creamer would not only taste good in my coffee but in the sticky buns I was making as well. And I was right! These sticky buns were so delicious. They definitely hit the spot and were a huge hit with the moms and kids.

Sticky Buns

  • 3/4 cup plus 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature, plus more for muffin tins)
  • 1 3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons Peppermint Mocha creamer
  • 1 3/4 pounds Martha Stewart's Yeast Dough (room temperature – or – 2 tubes crescent rolls, rolled out and pinch seams together)
  1. Generously grease 2 24-cup muffin tins with butter or spray. Divide yeast dough into 2 equal balls. Set aside.
  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream 3/4 cup butter together with 3/4 cup brown sugar and the salt on medium speed. Beat until light and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add corn syrup and creamer. Mix until well combined.
  3. Divide butter-brown sugar mixture evenly between prepared cups, about 2 tablespoons per cup. Sprinkle a tablespoon of pecans into each cup.
  4. Grab one of the dough balls. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and roll into an 18-by-10-inch rectangle. Brush dough with 2 tablespoons butter and liberally sprinkle with remaining brown sugar and chopped pecans.
  5. Beginning with the long side facing you, tightly roll dough away from you into a round log; pinch the edge of the dough to seal it. Cut the dough crosswise into 1 inch pieces.
  6. Place each cross-sectional piece into prepared muffin cup and lightly cover with plastic wrap. Repeat with second dough ball Place muffin tins in warm place until buns double in size, about 45 to 60 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  8. Once dough has doubled in size, remove plastic wrap and place on middle rack. Bake until tops are dark brown, about 35 to 40 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven and immediately invert to cooling rack set over a baking sheet. Let cool slightly before serving.

One thing I can always count on with these ladies is a good time. And they’ll eat pretty much anything. Even when I had to sub crescent roll dough for yeast dough in this recipe because my yeast dough was still too cold to work with!

The recipe still turned out absolutely delicious and tasted great with a nice cup of coffee. With some peppermint mocha creamer, of course.

Enjoying the Perfect Book Club with Gevalia Coffee

gevalia coffee enjoying book club

As anyone who knows me can tell you, I love my coffee. I have two cups a day every morning and love everything about it. From taste, to making meals even tastier, to perking me up and getting me going, coffee truly is a super food to me. And, in my opinion, Gevalia coffee is a top of the line, super premium super food.

When I first started drinking coffee I really didn’t know what I was doing. I’d just grab the cheapest grounds from the store and would go on my way. But I realized that what I was drinking wasn’t enjoyable. Then I remembered the coffee my mom had ordered my stepdad a few times and quickly checked it out myself.

How to Make the Perfect Latte At Home with Vanilla Cinnamon Simple Syrup

How to Make the Perfect Latte at Home

I don’t know if I’ve said it enough but I absolutely adore coffee. I love it so much that I have a cup of it every day. But sometimes… just sometimes… I have a delicious latte instead. And I’m going to teach you how to make the perfect latte at home just like I do.

Now the delicious beverage you see above is, in fact, made from my Tassimo home brewing system. BUT you CAN make this same delicious latte at home without a single-cup brewing system if you don’t have one.

And this latte above has one thing my Tassimo doesn’t – a delicious vanilla cinnamon simple syrup that you can use in lattes, coffee, and anything else that needs to be sweetened.

Overnight French Toast with Pecan Praline Topping {Breakfast Recipe}

I love having people over. I enjoy being forced into cleaning my home and making yummy food for my guests to enjoy.

I recently hosted a My Favorite Things party and similar to my first My Favorite Things party, I included a menu that highlighted my favorite eats. Since I hosted this event in the morning I served my favorite overnight french toast. It’s simple and easy to make the night before and tastes amazing after a whole night of soaking the flavors in.

Plus it’s topped with an out-of-this-world pecan praline mixture before it’s baked. Heaven! [Read more…]
