12 Totally Terrific Thanksgiving Recipes

12 Totally Terrific Thanksgiving Recipes

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and in this house that only means one thing… trying out Thanksgiving recipes!

Our family Thanksgiving dinners are great in that everyone pitches in and makes a dish or two to bring. That way no one has the burden of the whole Thanksgiving meal.

Most of the time my brother in law or father in law prepares the turkey (depending on who is hosting), I make a few sides, my mother in law brings the rolls and salad and each of us brings a variety of desserts.

So this year I figured I’d round up a few dishes that are sure to be perfect for your thanksgiving meal. And if you aren’t preparing the whole meal yourself you can pick and choose what recipes you want to try out this year!

12 Totally Terrific Thanksgiving Recipes homemade no knead dinner rolls

 1. Homemade No-Knead Dinner Rolls –

These dinner rolls are not only super easy to make, but they’re absolutely delicious! And the best part is that you can make them the night before, keep them in the fridge, and take them out and bake them right before dinner.

Plus they keep well in a ziploc storage bag for 24-48 hours so they can be completely made ahead as well if oven space is a problem. And if you make two batches you can have bread for leftover turkey sandwiches!

2. Mushroom Risotto

Like risotto, but hate all of the stirring? Try using a pressure cooker instead like Becky did in this delicious Mushroom Risotto recipe that only takes 4 minutes under pressure, and then another 5 or so afterwards.

Who wouldn’t love this simple and easy side dish that takes little time to make?

3. Homemade Green Bean Casserole –

Growing up I never understood my mother’s passion for green bean casserole at Thanksgiving. Her and my aunt would fight over who got it first and always acted as if it were better than the pumpkin pie.

Then I became an adult and realized how awesome green bean casserole was. And how much better it tasted from scratch! While this might not be as easy as the recipe on the can of French’s french-fried onions, it is easy to make and tastes amazing!

4. Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots –

Another huge favorite at our house is carrots. And these brown sugar glazed carrots are sure to be a simple, easy lifesaver for your Thanksgiving feast. Plus they can be made on the stove and don’t require an oven! Added bonus.

 5. Turkey and Cranberry Cous Cous Salad

Now normally I’d consider this cous cous salad the perfect thing to make with leftovers from Thanksgiving but the idea of combining the cranberry in right with a side dish seems so appealing.

And since I’m already practicing what I’m making for the big day, why not use the leftovers for a delicious dish for our meal! I love the idea of the different flavors melded together in this dish.

6. Baked Corn Pudding

Oh wow… now I’ve heard of creamed corn but have never had baked corn pudding before. However this recipe looks right up my alley! And it’s the perfect thing to serve alongside the turkey and mashed potatoes.

 7. Brined Turkey

Its all in the brine… or so I’ve been told. Over the past few years I’ve heard that brining is totally the way to go when roasting up a turkey. Something about a brine bath just gives the bird an extra oomph of flavor that has everyone coming back for more.

8. Bacon Wrapped Turkey Breast –

Don’t’ have time to cook ha whole turkey? Or just don’t have that many people coming over for Thanksgiving dinner? Well here’s the dish for you! This bacon wrapped turkey breast is sure to please any guest at your dinner table.

Plus there’s a bonus recipe that includes how to make Turkey, Roast Veggie and Bacon Hash with the leftovers!

 9. Herb Roasted Turkey Breast Tenderloin –

Similar to the idea above with the bacon wrapped turkey breast, this recipe is perfect for a smaller dinner crowd. This herb roasted turkey breast tenderloin is delicious and tastes amazingly good sliced up.

Plus cooking a tenderloin is a lot quicker and easier than a whole turkey!

10. Maple Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Bars

What else screams Thanksgiving dessert other than maple and pumpkin pie? And adding cheesecake to the mix only sweetens the pot. These Maple Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Bars over at My PB&J have me drooling and wanting more than one serving.

 11. Crockpot Pumpkin Pudding –

Don’t take up any more oven space with this simple and easy crockpot pumpkin pudding recipe from About a Mom. Not only is it easy to make, it’s just like pumpkin pie without the crust!

And if you really want that full pumpkin pie experience, just cut out little circles of store bought crust, bake them up, and serve them on top of the pudding.

12. Apple Dump Cake –

After making this huge meal and finally getting to dessert I’m sure you’re craving simplicity. So this dish does not disappoint! This apple dump cake can be made ahead and brought out when you need it. Plus it doesn’t create a tone of dishes to make it!

And if you’re craving a different flavor, try my candy apple dump cake recipe. Similar ingredients but a whole different taste!
