Rain Barrel Rebate Program in San Diego

rain barrel rebate program drought san diego

With our city in an ever constant drought, we’ve taken quite a few steps over the years to reduce the amount of water we use in our home. But with the addition of two children in our lives, it’s been hard to stick with the conservation efforts we’ve made.

So when we heard about the rain barrel rebate program through the City of San Diego we knew we needed to investigate further. And we were so glad we did.

Then we found out that Dixieline was running a sale on 60 gallon rain barrels for $90. So our $75 rebate and $90 sale price meant that we were paying $15 out of pocket for each barrel. Now that rocks! We picked up two for our home and are considering going back to get two more (limit of 4). [Read more…]

Get Sparkly Clean The Green Way with Fish Window Cleaning

This post and giveaway featuring Fish Foam is sponsored by Fish Window Cleaning.

Fish Window Cleaning

I’m all about using green cleaners and more eco-friendly products in my house. We’ve been great about stocking up on vinegar, baking soda, tea tree oil and more to keep our house clean, disinfected, and still free of chemicals. But when I heard of Fish Window Cleaning and their Fish Foam product I knew I wanted to learn more.

You see, while we’ve switched to green cleaning products, the one area of the house that never seems to get completely clean are our exterior windows. It doesn’t help that I HATE cleaning windows. So when I was asked to check out and review Fish Foam I figured it couldn’t hurt.

And I have to tell you… for a green cleaning product, Fish Foam got my dirty, disgusting exterior windows sparkly clean! [Read more…]

Finding the Perfect Solar Solutions with Complete Solar

This is a sponsored post about solar solutions from Complete Solar Solution.

solar solutions

Making our home more energy efficient has been on my radar for quite a while. Just recently we made a few changes on our own to make our home more energy efficient but we’re also looking to do more. Including finding solar solutions.

So when Complete Solar came to our home and talked with us about what our options were to adding solar panels to our roof we were quite interested to hear what they had to say.

What we learned is that it’s actually a painless process with many different ways to go around doing it. And there’s an option for everyone. [Read more…]

Natural Healing with Spark of Amber Baltic Amber Teething Necklace

Spark of Amber

With our more natural approach to parenting it was only natural for us to invest in baltic amber teething necklaces for our kids at a young age.

Now that our children are older and are no longer teething we didn’t think we’d continue to need those healing benefits. That is until I started having pain from my wisdom teeth being extracted. Luckily I had just received my gorgeous midnight baltic amber necklace from Spark of Amber.

And my daugther got one to match her momma! She hasn’t taken this necklace off since I showed it to her and LOVES pointing out that she matches her mom.

Green Cleaning with Seventh Generation Products

It’s no secret that I prefer green cleaners when keeping my house sparkly clean (ok… it’s hardly ever sparkly but…). I also love to use green cleaners on our clothing and on our bodies. With Seventh Generation products I can not only keep my house clean, but my family and their laundry clean as well.

Over the past few weeks I have been sampling a few Seventh Generation products that were sent over to me for review. And I have to say that I might not go back to what I was using before.

Not only did I love the fresh, clean scents that the products came in, I loved that none of the products I used irritated mine or my family’s skin. And coming from someone with sensitive skin, that means a lot!

Playdate Entertainment with Green Kid Crafts

Green Kid Crafts box

A few weekends ago I hosted an in-home cooking class for the moms of my playgroup. As with almost all of the events I host at my home, the kids were welcome to come and play as well.

In an effort to keep them distracted so us moms could learn how to cook an amazingly delicious meal I brought out our Green Kid Crafts Discovery Box for them to play with. It was the perfect way to keep them entertained and productive while we learned as well.

Eco-Healthy Tips: Recycling and Reusing

Celebrate Earth Day

With Earth Day coming up on April 22nd I thought I’d try and share a few great ways for us to start thinking more about our effect on our planet. Americans generate trash at an astonishing rate of four pounds per day per person, which translates to 600,000 tons per day or 210 million tons per year!

While the most important way to save valuable resources is to use as few as possible in the first place, recycling and using recycled products is the next step. By teaching my children to recycle while they’re young, I hope to instill in them the importance of taking care of the planet we live on.

We have been lucky enough to find an eco-healthy preschool that continues to educate them on the importance of not only recycling but reducing our use of plastics, etc and showing them how to reuse the products we do take into our home.

White Cloud Puts Green Cleaning Within Reach with Living The Green

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of White Cloud for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Most of us know the positive feeling of accomplishment we get when we do something to help the environment, right? Maybe we recycle empty cereal boxes and milk jugs, maybe we make a conscious decision to use less water, maybe we purchase eco-friendly products for our homes, or maybe we choose to cloth diaper our children instead of using disposables.

Regardless of how we help, we know it feels good to help and we want to do more! And even small baby steps to green living are the step in the right direction to becoming eco-conscious.
