5 Tips for Cleaning The House Before a Party

This weekend we celebrated my daugther’s 4th birthday. We were able to schedule her birthday party on her actual birthday and she couldn’t be happier. But with just moving into our home this summer we weren’t sure if we were ready to host a large party just yet.

Luckily I planned in advance and did a lot of the pick up and deep cleaning ahead of time – including hiring a maid the week before to do some of the chores I can’t really do easily in my third trimester of pregnancy.

But that doesn’t mean that I didn’t have to clean up right before the party due to little people running around the house doing their thing beforehand. So today I’m sharing my tips for cleaning the house before a party.  [Read more…]

Oatmeal Recipes Quick and Delicious Apple Crisp

One thing I love about this time of year is sharing holiday memories with my family. We baked a lot during the holidays and still continue that tradition today. That love of baking during the holidays has transpired from baking for the whole family to also baking for just my husband and me.

We try to do date night once every few weeks. With the busy holidays, we have to have a plan for a night at home every once in a while. Even if we aren’t going out I still want to make it a special evening for the both of us. I love to bring out our favorite holiday recipes to enjoy together as we snuggle on the couch and watch a movie together.

I always have apples and Quaker oatmeal on hand so individual apple crisp desserts were the perfect solution to our next date night in. [Read more…]

Easy Dinner Solutions for the Busy Mom

I found easy dinner solutions with Campbell’s® Sauces as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars. #CampbellsSauces

Easy Dinner Solutions for the Busy Mom - dinner ready in less than 30 minutes! #CampbellsSauces

This pregnancy has thrown all thought of meal planning and cooking out the window. When I find myself at a loss for what to make for dinner around 4pm I frantically call the husband to see if he can save the day. But there are only so many weeks of burgers, pizza, and tacos before it all starts to taste the same.

So I’ve decided to get a bit more serious about planning. I mean… not too serious but just enough to find some good staples to keep around for those days I’m tempted to call the husband to the rescue.

Luckily I found a great cooking aid – Campbell’s Skillet Sauces!  [Read more…]

3 Ways to Create a Sustainable Home

Once we moved into our new home the one thing I wanted to get up and going was my garden – including a compost bin and rain barrels for water. Then I realized that our home didn’t even have gutters on the house!

Before moving forward with my garden I had to figure out what we needed to do to create a sustainable home now that we’ve moved. And while it all won’t happen overnight, we now have an idea of what needs to get done over the next few months or years.

After we tackle these we’ll be looking at if we’re ready for chickens! Now that will be an adventure.  [Read more…]

December is finally here and that means Christmas is literally weeks away. I love to decorate my home using my Cricut machine and being able to add such personality into my project is always a plus.

Finding The Perfect Gift For Someone Who Has Everything: The Gift of Groupon

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Groupon Gift Shop. All opinions are 100% mine.

Finding The Perfect Gift For Someone Who Has Everything

My husband is one of the hardest people to shop for. Sure he likes a broad variety of things but he buys just about everything he needs! That means that I usually end up getting him either an electronic he’d probably purchase for himself anyway or a tool of some sort.

Luckily, with the help of Groupon I was able to score an awesome deal for one of his favorite local restaurants, Bice. $40 for $70 plus I had a coupon for 15% off a local deal since they were out of one of the deals I wanted to purchase. You can’t get better than that.

So what am I to do with a gift certificate to his favorite restaurant? Make it a full on date night gift! I paired the gift card with a pair of tickets to go see Wicked and arranged babysitting with my mother in law so he wouldn’t have to worry about anything. Kind of worked out for the both of us, don’t you think? [Read more…]

Pepperoni Recipe Ideas Pepperoni Lasagna Roll Ups

The one thing I love about the holidays are the meals I prepare with my family. Since we’ve hosted Christmas dinner the past few years we’ve started to change up what we serve.

A few years back I made these delicious lasagna roll ups with pancetta and spinach that were a huge hit.So for this year I wanted to try something a little different for an easy to prepare meal that was full of flavor. My change? adding Hormel Pepperoni[Read more…]

Creative Gift Ideas to Encourage Imagination

Is there any better feeling than waking up Christmas morning to watch the joy on your child’s face as they open up a gift they’ve asked for all year long? I really don’t think there is. And for my little engineers, any gift that puts their mind to work and gets their hands involved is something they will have on their list.

I don’t know how it happened (ok, maybe I do) but both of my kids seem to have the drive to create and imagine up these crazy contraptions and inventions. So when I find gifts that will fill that need to work on something I snatch it up right away.

Winter Play Dates in San Diego with Gymboree

Winter Play Dates in San Diego with Gymboree

One thing I’ve come to learn early on as a parent is the importance of play dates. And play dates in San Diego can be quite fun and exciting year round. From our great weather, to our amazing kid-friendly places all around town, San Diego is the place to be when you’re a kid.

Our favorite spot to be lately has been the San Diego Zoo. Not only is it a great place to explore, it’s also a fun and educational way to teach our kids about the many species of animals on this planet of ours.

Plus the fact that the zoo is right next to Balboa Park means we can enjoy a fun morning at the zoo then make our way to the museums (after snagging a bite to eat) in the afternoon! [Read more…]
