DIY Butterfly Costume

DIY Butterfly Costume Tutorial

When we asked my daughter what she wanted to be for Halloween a few months back she quickly answered that she wanted to be a butterfly.

When we asked again a few weeks later, you know… just to be sure, she still confirmed that she wanted to be a butterfly. So I got to searching different designs, patterns, fabrics, etc. and scouring Pinterest.

Then she took it upon herself to figure out her own costume. And it cost us $5 out of pocket. That $5? Was for the wings. Everything else she dragged out of her closet.

And she LOVES how it turned out. Don’t you? Now to get started on my son’s dinosaur costume… That’ll probably take more time.  [Read more…]

Craft Stick Christmas Tree

craft stick christmas tree

Remember when I shared with you what my daughter wanted us to make the other week? Well she also requested we make a craft stick Christmas tree as well after we finished with our snowmen. Since we already had everything out I figured why not?

She had such a fun time coloring the sticks, and gluing everything together, that she completely forgot about the cookie she asked for when we first started. Now that’s a win!

As we were crafting I snuck some carrot sticks and apple slices on the table and she happily munched on them non-the-wiser. And we now have some awesome Christmas trees to fling at gift to people. [Read more…]

My kids love to craft. And sometimes they ask to make random things. This past week I had a day with just my daughter and asked her what she wanted to do. Her answer? She wanted to make snowmen. In September. In 80 degree weather.

Being the awesome mom that I am (i.e. hoarder of all craft supplies) I dug into my collection of random crap supplies and we created the perfect craft stick snowman ornament. She made one and so did I.

Even though it’s not technically Winter – I mean we just arrived into Fall – we had a great time crafting together and created some pretty cute snowmen. I’m sure grandma will appreciate them! [Read more…]

My daughter is obsessed with letters and spelling right now. She might only be two but she’s constantly asking me how to spell names of people, places, and things. So I figured I’d start going through the alphabet with her and to make it fun I’ve made this Alphabet Worksheet for Preschoolers that we can work through as she asks about different letters.

Each week we’ll go through each of the letters and depending on her interest in each letter we’ll do a different activity. I’ve listed a few great ideas on how to use these worksheets below. You can also click on the image below to save and print your own worksheet! [Read more…]

The Home Depot Genessee Grand Re-Opening

DIY Father’s Day Gift Ideas

DIY Father's Day Gift Ideas collage

Every Father’s Day I sit and wrack my brain with what I think would be the perfect gift to give my husband. Would he love his favorite TV series on DVD? Does he want to go somewhere and make a day out of it? Or does he love the cute, homemade gifts I have the kids make him every year?

So I decided I’d come up with a plan this year. Each child gets to pick out something to give him from either the store or online (I can still direct them to things he’s interested in or has asked for) and then we’ll make something for him.

And of course I turn to the internets for great ideas on what to do for Dad. So if you’re looking for great gifts the kids can make Dad for Father’s Day, look no further.

Check out these DIY Father’s Day gift ideas and find something for every age child!
