Back to School Teacher Appreciation Gifts + a Tutorial

It’s the start of a new school year and to show our teachers some back to school love, we’ve created this simple back to school teacher appreciation gift!

Back to School Teacher Appreciation Gifts + a Tutorial

Ahhhh! The most wonderful week of the year. Back to school week. Where the kids head back into the loving arms of their teachers and mama gets some time to work uninterrupted (well… with the baby). While they enjoy learning and playing and being taught by someone other than me, I can get things done and FINALLY get back to a semi-normal schedule working from home.

And because of that, I felt the need to thank the teachers. Thank them for being there for my kids, taking them under their wings, and actually getting them to listen when you teach them fun things like sight words, money, reading, subtraction, getting along with peers and everything else they’ll be learning this year.

What better way to thank them than by giving them a small token of appreciation. Or a large token. So as part of the school’s PTG, I proposed a gift idea for the teachers. A simple thank you in the form of some candy, popcorn, and a Redbox gift code. Plus some extra school supplies for them to take as needed and some gorgeous flowers for the Teacher’s Lounge.

Back to School Teacher Appreciation Gifts - flowersBack to School Teacher Appreciation Gifts - school supplies and flowers

I don’t know about you but receiving a flower delivery just brings a huge smile to my face. It makes me feel good. And always brightens up the house or office. So one of my favorite things to give when it comes to a gift giving occasion for a birthday, celebration, anniversary, etc is flowers. And most of the time I’m sending them to my mom out of state. But this time around I decided to send them to my son’s school as a thank you to his teachers before the beginning of the school year.

With them I paired some extra school supplies I purchased throughout the summer when back-to-school sales were going on and supplies were dirt cheap. Why not stock up and spread the love with extra supplies when you know at least one teacher will need the extras? Then I figured it’d be nice to create an individual gift for each teacher from the PTG. So I threw together this cute little package and purchased some Redbox codes for each teacher. These came together in a few short minutes and were so easy to make!

Here’s how:

Back to School Teacher Appreciation Gifts + a Tutorial for a Redbox Gift

Teacher’s Rock Back to School Gift

What you’ll need:

  • Redbox codes OR small denomination gift cards
  •  individually wrapped microwavable popcorn
  • Full-size candy
  • ribbon
  • clear packaging tape
  • scissors
  • pen or fine point permanent marker
  • Teachers Rock PTG printable

Download the PTO printable here | Download the PTA printable here

What you do:

1. Print out this printable. Cut to size and write in the teacher’s name and Redbox code. Remember that each code is unique so keep track of which codes you’ve already used.

2. Grab a popcorn package and a candy along with your ribbon and scissors. Measure out how much ribbon you’ll need to wrap around the candy and popcorn and cut the ribbon to size.

3. Grab a large piece of mailing tape (a little smaller than the size of the square printable) and place in the middle of the candy sticky side up. Bring the ribbon edges over to adhere to the center of the tape so each side of the ribbon sticks to the tape.

4. Place the printable on the tape and ribbon and press down gently to make sure that the tape adhere’s to the back of the printable.

5. Pass out to the teachers!

Inexpensive Easter Basket Ideas for Kids

These inexpensive Easter basket ideas for kids won’t break the bank! We take a simple approach to Easter baskets in our family and are sharing our tips and tricks with you.

Easter is right around the corner and if you’re like me you’ve been racking your brain trying to think of great things to put in your child’s Easter basket. We always try and keep it simple. We definitely don’t want Easter turning into Christmas or a birthday where we shower our children with more than a few gifts. And we want our children to learn that not every holiday is a huge gift-giving event.

We’ve always used the same guidelines each year since our son was born… simple. The Easter Bunny will only bring what will fit in the Easter baskets (except for the eggs filled with treats that he hides everywhere). These Easter basket ideas for kids are not only simple but ones you can pick up at your local stores.

This year is no different. I went to a few different places to score the awesome loot found in my kids Easter baskets this year but didn’t spend more than $25 per basket and were purchased at Target (both the Easter section and $1 section) & See’s Candies. Plus, many of these things hold dual purpose and can be used over and over again.

Here are our Easter Basket Gift Ideas for Kids:

What do you add to your child’s Easter basket?

Gift Basket Ideas for Mom + How to Make Lavender Epsom Salt Scrub

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. Product was provided by the client for review; however, all opinions are mine alone. #WorldsSmartestToothbrush #PhilipsSonicare #OprahsFavoriteThings #CollectiveBias

Sometimes my mom is the hardest person to shop for on my list. So that means going a little outside of the box when I think up things to gift her for Christmas. Sure there’s the photo of the kids, or the massage gift card, but you can’t just keep gifting that to her year after year, right? (she might disagree….)

This year I decided to get some ideas from a woman I’ve known for quite a long time; Oprah. Growing up, there was always one show playing at home when I got home from school and that was Oprah. My mom and I would watch together and talk about the topics of the day and our days at school/work. It was a great bonding time. Now I love finding out what is included in Oprah’s latest Favorite Things List so I can get ideas on what to send my mom for special gift giving occasions.

So front and center in the gift basket I created for my mom is the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart 9300 Rechargeable Toothbrush. Now you may be saying, “A toothbrush for your mom???” but it really is the perfect gift to give for this holiday season. The Sonicare DiamondClean Smart 9500 Rechargeable Toothbrush was named one of Oprah’s Favorite things in 2017, and I had the chance to try a DiamondClean Smart for myself. Definitely can’t go wrong with anything on her list.

It may sound weird, but my mom cares about the heath of her teeth. She’ll do anything she can at home to avoid going to the dentist. So a toothbrush with four high-performance brush heads and Smart Sensor technology is a must for her. Now she can care for her whole mouth, teeth, gums and tongue with the new Sonicare DiamondClean. Just click on the Sonicare DiamondClean in the image below to grab one for your loved ones (or yourself) from Amazon!

The Sonicare DiamondClean is Philips’ best ever toothbrush for complete oral care. It’s sensors and integrated app help you perfect your technique, and get a complete clean. The premium brush heads give you exceptional oral health results and its 4 modes and 3 intensities let you focus on each aspect of your oral health. But no need to worry about what mode or intensity you need. The smart brush heads automatically select the optimal mode and intensity you need. Looking to take your oral health to the next level? Connect with the Sonicare app to get real-time feedback and personalized coaching! How’s that for 100% confidence in your oral care?

And in addition to complete oral care, I threw in some funny and pampering gift items too. I grabbed a tan soap dispenser and created an SVG file for the soap connoisseur image to allude to a favorite holiday Christmas movie, and then got to mixing and created a fun lavender epsom salt scrub for her to enjoy. To round it all out I added an eye mask and pumice stone. The perfect whole body pampering set! I’m sharing how you can make the scrub below AND sharing a free SVG file for the scrub label.

How to Make Lavender Epsom Salt Scrub

What you need:

  • 1 cup epsom salt
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 3-5 drops lavender essential oil

What you do:

Mix the salt and oil together until well blended. Add in the lavender oil and stir to combine.

Place salt scrub in an air tight container and add a label.

Grab the free Lavender Scrub SVG file here!

What do you love placing in gift baskets to make them fun but different?

The Best No Flour Monster Cookie Bars + A Cookie Bar Mix Gift Idea

We’ve whipped up these deliciously satisfying No-Flour Monster Cookie Bars and are sharing how you can create your own Monster Cookie Bar Mix to gift to friends this holiday season. This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, Mars Wrigley Confectionery US, LLC. All opinions are mine alone. #SimplySweetness #CollectiveBias

Holiday baking season has arrived! And you know what that means? Lots and lots and LOTS of dishes in our home. Because when we bake, we bake. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but the kids LOVE to help out in the kitchen. And when Christmas rolls around, we stock up on all of our baking necessities (like the big Red & Green Holiday 52 oz. Bag of M&M’S® from Sam’s Club). We wouldn’t want to run out mid-holiday baking.

One thing I love about baking during the holidays is that it’s an inexpensive way to share our love with others. We don’t necessarily have the budget to purchase a gift for everyone we know so we can make fun little platters filled with goodies for others to enjoy. And one of my new favorite gifts to make are these fun cookie bar mixes so others can make our favorite recipes at home. That way we can whip up a batch to share with them now and provide them with a mix to make them later. Hey, who knows? Maybe they’ll even use the kit to make some holiday goodies for their loved ones!

Red & Green Holiday 52oz. Bag of M&M’S® are a festive and colorful treat to bring into your baking, decorating and every aspect of your holiday celebrations. The Stand-Up Pack will keep your M&M’S® fresh and ready-to-go in an easy resealable package. Heck, if I wasn’t baking with them, I’d probably give these bags as gifts! What says, “I love you,” better than a big bag of M&M’S®, right?

But for now we’ll stick with gifting some delicious cookie bars and mixes.

No Flour Monster Cookie Bars

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups Old Fashioned oats
  • 1 cup M&M'S®
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 350°F. Line a 13×9-inch metal baking pan with foil.

  2. Add all of the ingredients into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment,

  3. Cover bowl with dish towel and mix on lowest setting. Once mixed up a bit, increase speed and mix until all of the ingredients are combined.

  4. Spread mixture onto prepared baking pan and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. Take out of the oven and let cool for 5 minutes then transfer foil and bars to a cooling rack. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Remember how I said you could GIFT these bad boys to your friends and family in a fun mix? Well here’s how!

Monster Cookie Bars Mix

What you’ll need:

  • 4 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup M&M’S®
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 32 oz jar with lid
  • ribbon
  • hole punch

Layer each ingredient in the order it’s shown above into a 32oz plastic or glass jar with lid

Tea Party Theme Ideas: Tea Pot Place Card Printable

Today we’re sharing some fun tea party theme ideas like this tea pot place card printable. This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #TeaProudly #CollectiveBias

My middle child is turning 7 next week. 7! How did the time go by so fast?? Not only is she turning 7 but she’s turning 7 on the 7th. That means that this year is her Golden Birthday and as such we decided to celebrate in style by hosting a tea party at a local tea shop with 7 of her closest friends.

Now if you know Molly, you know she LOVES going to tea. It’s something she’s done with me and Grandma as a special outing and sharing tea with loved ones holds a special place in our hearts. I would enjoy a cup of tea in the morning with my nanny growing up and it was always something that provided comfort. Plus, we celebrated with a tea party at home on her first birthday so it was only fitting to repeat for her golden birthday.

With every party we’ve hosted, we’ve always included a fun party favor for guests to take home with them. And this year we decided to not only make party favors but turn them into place cards so the girls know where to sit when they come to the tea house. We’ve hidden a fun surprise inside: a Bigelow tea bag to enjoy at home. We’re huge fans of Bigelow so it was only fitting that we include our favorite variety in our favors.

This fun project can be made with a paper cutting machine or you can print out the printable we have provided below and cut out with scissors. Either way, your guests will love taking this treat home with them after the party!

Tea Party Theme Ideas: Tea Pot Place Card Printable

What you’ll need:

What you do:

1. Cut out printable or SVG file onto card stock.

4. Inside the tea pot, use double sided sticky tape to adhere one tea bag to the back tea pot.

5. Close tea pot up and secure top with double sided sticky tape.

Looking to make your own tea pot place card holders but need the tea? You can find Bigelow Constant Comment at Walmart in the Tea and Coffee aisle! You can find more from Bigelow on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

DIY Cereal Gift Box

This DIY cereal gift box idea sponsored by Cheerios is a great way to wrap up any gift AND upcycle those cereal boxes you have laying around!

Father’s Day is right around the corner and the kids are happily making fun gifts for my husband at school. But since I know my husband, and know he needs more than just the cute gifts, I decided to pick up a few other necessities for him as well. Including his favorite Cheerios cereal and a polo shirt (his signature look).

Since my husband does so much for us at home, I thought that we could shower him with a little more love all wrapped in a DIY cereal gift box we upcycled from our cereal boxes. Plus, in addition to making gift boxes out of our empty cereal boxes, we can also give back even more with the help of Cheerios

Making these gift boxes are easy! And with a few simple supplies found around the house, you can make a few up yourself in no time. Plus, you won’t have to worry about pulling down the big storage bin of wrapping supplies to gift wrap. Easy peasy! Here’s how!

DIY Cereal Gift Box

What you’ll need:

  • empty Cheerios cereal box
  • sharpie or pen
  • box cutter
  • scissors
  • colorful duct tape
  • twine

What you do:

1. Using the straight edge of one box, line where your gift box opening will be on the top of the box. We measured around 1-2 inches from the shorter side of the box in. Then make a line at a 90 degree angle on the long side of the box from the top edge to the bottom edge inwards. Repeat on the other side. (see video below for details)

2. Using the lines you just drew as guides, carefully use a box cutter to score the lines. Then go over them again once more to cut all of the way through. Open up the lid to make sure it works properly.

3. Using tape, seal the top of the box where you open to remove the cereal.

4. Continue to tape box until outer shell of box is covered.

5. Line box with tissue paper and place present inside. Cover with more tissue paper and tie lid down with twine. Add a card and give your gift!

Right now you can give the gift of Cheerios by participating in the buy a box, give a box promotion. Simply purchase a specially marked package of your favorite variety of Cheerios, enter the code found inside here, and send a coupon for a free box of Cheerios to someone you love!

Now, not only can Dad get a delicious box of Cheerios with his gift, he can also choose to gift Cheerios to someone else. Spreading the love, one box at a time.

Who would you share a box of Cheerio’s with?

Why Crafting Breaks Are Necessary plus a Mother’s Day Gift Idea for Grandma

Need a Mother’s Day gift idea for Grandma? Look no further! These adorable bouquets are sure to put a smile on her face just as finding the time to craft alone will put a smile on yours.

Last week I took some time for myself to get my hair done. Not only did I get my hair cut, I gave in and got it colored, too. At first, I wanted to go a bit crazy. It was the first time I’ve ever colored my hair so I wanted to have some fun with a dusty rose or lavender color. But then after talking with my hairdresser, I decided on a more subtle change for the first time.

I got to thinking why I wanted to change things up. Change of pace? Wanting a break from the same old, same old? Or was it something else?

Finally, after much thinking, I came to a conclusion. I needed to do something for me. While I love being a wife, a mother, an employee, most of the decisions I make are based on thinking of others first. So, in partnership with Cafe Breaks, I decided to take a bit more time for myself  (and think of myself first) to take a craft break.

Most of the time while I craft, I’m doing it with the kids. Something fun and exciting for them to create with me. Now, sure I get enjoyment from crafting with them, but I forgot how much I love crafting for myself. Or, in this case, crafting for my MIL. I was able to create a fun gift for her out of a few simple supplies we had in the craft room. And I now want to make a few more with the

While I enjoyed my crafting break, I also took the time to indulge a bit in a Cafe Breaks pudding. The mocha latte is so delicious! Crafting AND a snack all for myself? Yes, please!

If you haven’t taken a moment or two for yourself lately, take a step back and think about what would bring you joy or happiness! It doesn’t have to be something expensive. It could be as simple as heading to Walmart and picking up a pack of Cafe Breaks pudding packs from the pudding aisle to enjoy without someone else asking for a bite.

Smurfette’s Secret Succulent Fairy Garden

This secret succulent fairy garden would make a perfect gift for Mother’s Day or any other special occasion. Plus, it’s super easy to put together when you have the right tools!

A few weeks ago we were invited to a screening of Smurfs The Lost Village and boy did my kids love it! The movie took us through the story of Smurfette’s creation and her struggle with finding her unique talent. Since she was made out of clay and different from the other Smurfs, she grew sad and frustrated with her lack of being able to master one skill.

As the story unfolds, she and a few Smurf friends head off on an adventure that brings her to realize who she really is and the power she holds inside.

Well… my kids were quite inspired by the movie because as soon as we got home they wanted to create their own Smurf village in the back yard! The fun plants that came alive and the various creatures found along Smurfette’s journey were all they could talk about.

So I pitched a fairy garden but instead of fairies, we used Smurfs! And how perfect did it turn out? Plus? It was so easy for the kids to make!

Watch the video at the end of this post for more details!

10 Reasons Why You Should Send Cookies for Valentines Day + A Printable Cookies and Milk Valentine

This post featuring a free milk and cookies valentine printable plus 10 reasons why you should send cookies for Valentine’s Day is sponsored by Cookie’s by Design.

When my husband and I were first dating, I started to send him a Cookie’s by Design cookie bouquet for Valentine’s Day. It was a special way for me to show him my love and a little less embarrassing than a flower bouquet for a man. At the beginning of our relationship, it was just a cute mug cookie bouquet (we still have some of those mugs!). But as the years went by the bouquets increased in size as our relationship grew.

With 3 kids at home, that mug bouquet just won’t cut it. Because when my husband brings his gift home from work, 3 eager eyes watch him as he puts down the bouquet. He can’t help himself from sharing with them! And I don’t blame them for wanting in on some of that goodness!

Even though there are flowers and chocolates and so many other ways to show your loved ones you care on Valentine’s Day, the one way we show each other how we care is through cookies! Here are a few reasons why you should send cookies for Valentine’s Day too!

10 Reasons Why You Should Send Cookies for Valentines Day

1. Cookies are delicious. We all know this. But Cookie’s By Design cookies are baked fresh AND hand decorated.

2. You can share with friends (or your kids)!

3. Each basket is made to order and can be personalized with messages or images printed right on the cookies.

4. You can’t eat flowers. But you can eat cookies.

5. Cookie’s by Design cookie bouquets come in so many different varieties and designs. They even launched handcrafted cookie gift baskets featuring Build-A-Bear Workshop teddy bears. Perfect for the kids!

6. They deliver right to your door. Cookie’s By Design creations are always hand delivered and handled with care.

7. You can even get them delivered as early as the same day. Cookie’s By Design offers same-day gift delivery on most of their hand decorated cookie bouquets.

8. You can also pick them up locally at your closest Cookie’s By Design location (for those who procrastinated).

9. These cookie bouquets don’t wilt.

10. Once the cookies are gone, the Build-A-Bear Workshop teddy bears last for years to come.
