Easy Dinner Ideas On The Grill

The official end of summer is near and the unofficial end of summer has arrived. While I’m sad to see our summertime fun and memories fade, I’m excited that we’ll still have some warm days upon us to continue using our grill instead of heating up the house inside.

Over this past summer I’ve come to realize that you can grill just about anything. And that includes pizza! Not only is it the perfect way to get a crisp, delicious crust, it evenly cooks all of the toppings so no one is left with a doughy bite.

But pizza isn’t the only thing you can put on the grill… I’ve also started grilling up some desserts and even salad if you can believe it. These easy dinner ideas on the grill are not only simple to make but quick to cook up! This whole meal took less than 15 minutes from start to finish.  [Read more…]

Childhood memories of summer always involved Oreo cookies and an ice cold glass of milk on back porches after playing in the pool or running around with the neighborhood kids.  As a grown up I still crave Oreo cookies, but now I like a bit more sophisticated flare (although you’ll still catch me with a handful of oreos and a tall glass of milk some nights!).

Here are 21 Tasty Oreo Cookie Recipes that are perfect for kicking it up a notch and creating a new adult cookie memory.  With ideas great for kids parties, giving as yummy food gifts or sneaking as an adults only dessert after the kids go to bed, this list is perfect for any Oreo lover out there. You know that time in the day that you just start craving something sweet or salty? Because I know it isn’t just me! There’s some time either right after nap time and before my husband gets home or after the kids are in bed that I just crave something bad.

And since I’m on Weight Watchers and trying to watch the mindless snacking, I’ve been trying to find alternatives for my old go-to’s as well as healthy snacks that the kids can enjoy with me as well. So when I found these deliciously tasty looking frozen fruit bars on my most recent grocery trip I knew I had to try them.

Delicious Peanut Butter S’mores {4 WW+ Dessert}

A friend of mine recently mentioned the delicious low point dessert she made to curb a craving she had. She made some sugar free, fat free white chocolate jello and topped it with strawberries. YUM! So I started thinking about the dessert items I have made to hit the spot.

One of them is a delicious s’mores recipe that uses marshmallow creme instead of marshmallows and uses mini chocolate chips instead of a chocolate bar. You bake it in the oven (or toaster oven) and within 5-10 minutes a delicious, mouthwatering snack comes out.

I just took that recipe and spiced it up for what I was craving. And while it did come out with a higher points value, that’s ok! It was so worth it. And I only ate one serving and shared the other with my son. He was more than ecstatic to help me eat some points so I wasn’t tempted to go after the other one.

Mandarin Orange Cream Pops

This mandarin orange cream pops recipe is brought to you by Halos.

Mandarin Orange Cream Pops

One of my kids favorite snacks are Halo mandarin oranges. There’s something about the small size, how easy they are to peel, and the amazingly sweet taste that those little oranges pack that make my kids go nuts over them. But sometimes I’m a little zealous in purchasing and we can find ourselves with too many. That’s when these delicious mandarin orange cream pops come into play.

As a sweet treat to reward the kids for good behavior after their naps last week, I made these naturally sweet, protein packed mandarin orange cream pops from a few Halos that the kids hadn’t gotten to yet.

I love how easy this treat is to make and how quickly it comes together. And since getting our new Zoku pop maker, making these pops are so much quicker than the alternative (which we also did with the leftover pop mix). [Read more…]

Vanilla Chex Cranberry Pecan Bars

Vanilla Chex Cranberry Pecan Bars

I love cereal. Like LURVE cereal. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Too bad the husband doesn’t do breakfast for dinner. But that’s another story…

So when I received a few boxes of Vanilla Chex to try out in the mail I didn’t hesitate to jump in and indulge in a bowl (or two). And when my daughter saw what I was doing she demanded that I share. I almost didn’t.

I told her I was going to make something for our playgroup’s halloween party with them and her eyes got big. She was so excited to see what I was going to make. And I’m pretty sure I made her day when I showed her these Vanilla Chex Cranberry Pecan bars I threw together.

They were pretty darn good!

Lemon Tartlets

Lemon Tartlets portrait

Every month I host a playdate at my house for my playgroup. It’s a great way for moms to get together and enjoy each other’s company while the kids play with each other. It also gives newcomers to the group a chance to feel welcomed in without having to search a park or other location for a group they aren’t familiar with.

So when two new friends arrived at my door for our latest playdate and one’s hands were filled with these amazingly delicious lemon tartlets I knew they’d fit right in! And they did.

Of course after polishing off a few of these bad boys I had to ask for the recipe and luckily my friend had no problems sharing it with me. This dessert is so simple to prepare and great for parties and get togethers. [Read more…]

Candy Corn Rice Crispy Treats

Every year for Halloween I host a party for my playgroup. Something fun, easy, and entertaining for the kids. We enjoy painting pumpkins, creating snack bags, and having a great time while all in costume.

But one of our favorite parts about this get together is the fact that we all come together and bring delicious goodies for everyone to sample. This year I decided to try out some festive rice crispy treats after my husband made a batch and left about 1/2 the pan in the fridge.

So I got out my candy melts and started playing around to create these adorable sweet treats otherwise known as candy corn rice crispy treats. I’m sure the kids will love them! [Read more…]
